According to police, an officer first attempted to stop the car in the area of Route 7 and Wolfpit Road because its tail light was out, but the driver of the car appeared to refuse to stop.
When the car still refused to stop, officers pulled out spike strips just north of Four Seasons Racquetball on Route 7 and the pursuit came to an end near the Days Inn in Ridgefield, police said.Once stopped, further investigation of the car and driver found that the driver was in possession of narcotics and was reportedly under the influence of crack cocaine and MDMA, police said. The car was also determined to have been stolen by the driver, police said.
Officers charged the driver, Kareem Mayo, 38, of New Haven, with driving under the influence, reckless driving, driving with a tail light out, third degree larceny, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and interfering with police.
Mayo was held on $10,000 bond and taken to court on Sept. 17. The outcome of his hearing was unknown.
